My Marathon Challenge

I'm challenging myself to run 26.2 miles at the 2012 Brighton Marathon. I've never run a marathon before so this is going to be a diary of my progress, GOOD and BAD over the next few months

Longest run of my life

23/01 3 miles on treadmill then spinning
24/01 5.02 miles 41:59 8.22m/m
25/01 running club
27/01 7 miles 1:01 8.42 m/m
28/01 15.01 miles 2:20:34 9:22 m/m
29/01 approx 5 miles cross country run

Did my longest ever run this week. Started off badly as I fell on my face crossing Rival Moor Road and there were loads of cars around so that was very embarrassing. I ran 15 miles and went to Harting Down and back across the South Downs. It was quite difficult because of all the hills and I'm not that used to running off road - but I made it and took a photo at Harting Down to prove that I got there.

Also did my second Cross Country run with the running club at Manor Farm, I had proper cross country trainers this time which definitely made a difference for trying not to fall over in all the mud and I managed to come 16th lady so an improvement on my last one.

13 miles on a Friday night

16/01 treadmill 6 miles
18/01 running club
19/01 5.35 miles 45:26 8:28 m/m
20/01 13 miles 1:58:01 9.05 m/m

Went to Glasgow this weekend so I had to do my long 13 mile run on a Friday evening mostly in the dark. I decided to go down some of the small lanes in Ramsdean which probably wasn't the best idea in the dark as I totally spooked myself out.
Also had a 'no hands massage' this week which was really painful and amazing at the same time, especially around my quad, hips and knees.
New trainers too - exactly the same as my old ones so slowly running them in.
